Middle school at Page is where years of arts-integrated learning come together. Academic expectations rise each year in math, literature and composition, lab science, and history, and every subject is taught directly and rigorously before students apply it through creative work.

Students keep learning the way they have since TK, by writing, building, designing, and performing, but in middle school they start leading the work. They choose a concentration track in the Creators Program, take on bigger roles in the school's productions, and finish eighth grade with a capstone project they design, produce, and present to a real audience before graduation.

With small class sizes and teachers who know each student well, Page prepares graduates for competitive high schools, and recent alumni have gone on to schools like Mater Dei and Sage Hill.

Middle School is a time of intellectual, emotional, social, and physical transformation. We attend to every aspect of the journey into and through the early teen years sharpening remarkably adept and mature young learners and people. Our Middle School curriculum immerses your child in hands-on exploration, sophisticated research, and active presentation. Your child steps forth from Middle School genuinely excited by their own wondrous possibilities. Having achieved more than they may have thought possible, they begin defining their own educational goals and making them happen. To ensure students can navigate the changes they’re experiencing, we weave social-emotional learning throughout the curriculum. Every core subject is taught directly, with mastery checks built in, and then applied through creative work. Middle schoolers turn history research into original scenes, literature into staged performances and criticism, and math and science into designs and working prototypes.

To best prepare our students for the 21st century, Page utilizes the latest in cutting-edge instructional technology; including interactive SMARTBoards in every classroom, a 1:1 tablet ratio for students, and opportunities to use 3D printers, design software and other tools that help develop skills for the future.

THE CREATORS PROGRAM

In middle school, students choose a primary concentration in one of four creative domains, performing arts, visual arts and design, production and tech, or the business of creative work, while continuing to work in the other three. Real production responsibility opens up, from lead roles to lighting, sound, and set design.

THE EIGHTH-GRADE CAPSTONE

Every eighth grader designs and produces an original project in their concentration, whether that's a play, a short film, an exhibition, a collection of writing, or an album, and presents it to a real audience before graduation.
